On this Saturday’s episode of MotortradeRadio.com, Philip Nothard and Curtis Hutchinson of Motortrader.com to discuss the latest headlines, as the SMMT has taken the unusual step of reissuing its used car sales figures for Q2, and recalculated figures revealed, that UK used car transactions experienced a decline of just -0.7% instead of the previously quoted -13.5%. 

Whilst, a survey by Warrantywise of 1,320 people showed that repair garages – independents and franchised dealers – beat estate agents into first place, with plumbers taking the third spot.

In other news, Hyundai is the latest carmaker to launch a scrappage scheme with dealers offering between £1,545 and £5,000 on trade-ins across its model range.

Handy Motorsport has joined forces with the Alfa Romeo Dealer Council to bring the brand back to the British Touring Car Championship in 2018.

And finally, the most popular time for making an online enquiry about a new or used car purchase is between 10.00am and 11.00am, according to new consumer research from showroom system specialist Dealerweb. And, Lookers is opening its second multi-franchise used car centre in Motherwell on 1 September. The opening comes just four weeks after the dealer group opened its first Lookers Outlet in Gateshead ahead of a planned national rollout.

A shout out, as dealers have already started signing up for the inaugural Motor Trader Summit taking place on 21 November at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium.

The special one-day event, which is free to dealers, is themed around Boosting Dealer Profitability in 2018 with a series of best practice speaker sessions covering the forthcoming GDPR rules, online customer reviews and social media marketing.
